Top 5 Must Haves to Win at Business with the Entrepreneurial Mindset

Want to see how you measure up to a winning business mindset?

You must have these 5 ingredients to thrive in business - score yourself 1-10 in each category:

1. Vision & Clarity: not only must you have a guiding vision of where you want your business to go, but even more importantly, you MUST be clear on the focus of your next 90 days!

Many of my best clients come to me with lack of clarity, doubt/uncertainty, and the resultant frustration about what their next 5 moves are going to be.

Clarity is liberating! The brakes start to come off with more clarity - both longer term (Vision), and (especially) shorter term (energized goals).

2. Drive. In Daniel Pink's popular book, Drive, the 3 secrets to intrinsic motivation are gifted in the form of Autonomy, Mastery, & Purpose. When you are in control of your own work, have a growth-minded focus on becoming good at what you do, and you feel deeply connected to the meaning of your work - you are ON FIRE!

3. Resourcefulness: When you score this one out of 10, basically ask yourself this question: 'How effectively & quickly do I figure out what to do next when I feel stuck?'

Your ability to adapt and creatively solve problems with limited resources, and willingness to innovate and take calculated risks & make quick decisions plays a big role in your business.

4. Give Value.  In the hyper competitive business environment (eg. Social Media for one area) where increasingly everyone wants influence, the people and businesses who create and offer the most value win.

i. Customer-centric: wins trusty and loyalty.

ii. Differentiate: authenticity is automatic differentiation.

iii. Law of Reciprocity: if I give value to you, you will want to return the favour.

iv. Long-term Sustainability: people continue to do business with those they know, like, and trust. Relational business building may be a little slower at first, but it always lasts much longer.

5. Resilience: The capacity to recover quickly from challenges and setbacks. Perhaps the reflection question that best encapsulates resilience is, "How will I become better from this challenge?" The leader who asks themself this question the most will always win.

So, how did you score out of 50? Double your score and there's your %-age.
